Eggs!!!! They’re delicious, whether they’re fried, scrambled, hard boiled, soft boiled and poached but have you ever made rubber eggs? Well the young scientists in room 35 have and they have loved it!
They were all ears to hear about the many different layers of the humble egg and what happens to the hard shell when it’s placed in vinegar and food colouring for a few days.
Michaela: “The eggshell which is made from calcium carbonate absorbs the acid from the vinegar and dissolves and creates a layer that feels like rubber.”
Lexi: ” You can’t squeeze it too hard or stab it with anything sharp like Mr John did or else it will break.”
Keep up the great work room 35!
